Now is the absolute best time to make the switch to solar power on your home or office and plug in an electric vehicle.  There are Federal and local incentives that make it very affordable and locks you into that lower rate for the next 40 or so years!

How many panels does it take to power the EV?

There are many factors to consider, such as the size of the battery in the EV, the efficiency of the panels, the type of hardware, etc.

We sell the best solar panels with the highest energy rating, so we estimate about four panels to charge a typical electric vehicle.  On top of the panels, you will also require a charging port for your home or office where you plug in the vehicle.

What types of incentives are available to us in 2019?

Through 2019, residential and commercial properties can receive a 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit when purchasing a system. This reduces to 26% in 2020, and 22% in 2021. Now is the time to get the best deals!

If you get your power from Xcel, you also may be eligible for their Solar Rewards Program and Renewable Energy Credit, or their Net Energy Metering program*.  See their website for more details as they change periodically.

When purchasing a new Electric Vehicle, there is also a Federal Tax Incentive of up to $7,500, Colorado tax incentive up to $5,000, or $2,500 for leasing an electric vehicle.

Note that the Colorado EV tax credit will reduce from $5,000 to $4,000 in 2020 and down to $2,500 in 2021. **

With all the incentives, and let’s not forget no more visits to the gas pump, you can see how now is the best time to make the move to electric vehicles.

We practice what we teach

Our company has a fleet of four electric vehicles that are plugged in to our solar powered office.  Our Energy Consultants use them to visit homeowners and businesses for appointments, our install team uses them to evaluate the homes, and the designers use them if they need to run errands during the day.  Of course, until there are affordable trucks, we still need to use a gas – powered version when doing installations.

Get an appointment today with one of our Energy Consultants to see what options are available for you.
