Western Colorado Botanical Gardens
June 2007
On June 9, 2007 the newly installed solar electric grid-tie system donated by High Noon Solar was turned on at the Grand Valley’s Western Colorado Botanical Gardens. In the fall of 2007 students at West Middle School won High Noon Solar’s “Solar Powered Classroom Challenge” and the Botanical Gardens became the recipients of the educational and fully operational photovoltaic solar system. The donated system offsets 40% of the electric needs of the building at the Gardens which houses the administrative offices and children’s library. In addition the system provides a learning experience to Botanical Gardens visitors through educational signs explaining the various solar components.
